Sunset Soldier

A World War One Anzac sculpture stands in the main street of Invercargill, the soldier’s silhouette rises above the street, back turned to the May sunset. I turn to admire the decaying facade of a Victorian building along the main street and hope that a benefactor will come to its rescue. As I contemplate the fate of this building, I see him againĀ – the soldier mirrored in the windows.

  1. Beautiful images, Francesca, and captured at the best possible time. I do hope that some wealthy benefactor restores that building. Such a shame to see something so beautifully designed to sit idle like that.
